Segment of spinal cord – definition see above. Vertebromedular topography describe segmental position in relationship to the vertebrae. We can use the spinous processes for approximaly lodgement of the segments. This means (in adult) : cervical segments are above corresponding C vertebra, thoracic ones above 2 Th vertebrae, lumbar segments are situated at the level of Th 10 – 12, sacral and coccygeal segments lie at the level of L1. |
